Trap Door located within Elsewhere, a living museum and artist residency set in a 3-floor, former, thrift store in Greensboro NC. The piece is permanently installed in the stage near the front door to Elsewhere. Trap Door covers access to the area below the stage, but also allows access to the crawlspace further below. This new trap door, replacing the original, cast in resin from the original, holds artifacts from the group which shared this time together (residency #104 August 2019).
Coe Lapossy has focused on bringing the trap door into the light, revealing its secrets, and giving the structure a voice. The embedded video creates a mouth in the trap door, allowing it to speak to us. This dialogue is taken from the play and movie, Prelude To A Kiss, written by Craig Lucas.
